Two Financial Names Open in Charlotte, Adding Nearly 900 Jobs
Daimler Truck Financial Services has opened its North American headquarters in Ballantyne, and Capital Group has launched an East Coast operations hub, in a pair of ribbon-cuttings attended by Governor Josh Stein.
Charlotte added two more addresses to its financial-services map on Tuesday, when Governor Josh Stein joined ribbon-cuttings for Daimler Truck Financial Services and Capital Group.
A Truck Lender Consolidates in Ballantyne
Daimler Truck Financial Services (DTFS) opened its new North American headquarters in Charlotte's Ballantyne district. According to the governor's office, the company is investing nearly $8 million and bringing 276 jobs to Mecklenburg County. The 60,000-square-foot office pulls together employees who had been based in Michigan and Texas.
Capital Group Builds an East Coast Hub
Capital Group, the investment manager, opened an East Coast operations hub that the state says will create 600 jobs. The state estimates the hub carries an annual payroll impact of more than $116 million and projects it will add more than $5 billion to North Carolina's economy over 12 years.
The state's own release describes the two projects as bringing "nearly 1,000" jobs, though the figures it lists for each company add up to 876.
Stein Makes the Case for the State
Speaking in Charlotte, Stein called the city the country's second-largest financial center and argued that people want to be part of what the state is building. His office pointed to financial services employment that has grown 25 percent since 2019, and to CNBC's most recent rankings, which placed North Carolina first for its economy, second for business and third for workforce.
The governor used the same trip to speak at the PhRMA State Advocacy National Meeting, where his office highlighted the state's life sciences sector: more than 210,000 jobs and about $82 billion in annual economic activity, with some 860 life sciences companies operating in North Carolina. His office also noted that STERIS plc announced a $600 million chemistries manufacturing center in Sanford, bringing 335 jobs to Lee County, earlier this quarter.
Since taking office, Stein's office says, the administration has announced nearly 47,000 jobs and close to $33 billion in new investment.
